Career criminal Barney Kotler was among the hoodlums involved with Gambino capo Carmine Lombardozzi. Kotler was deeply immersed in racetrack betting as a bookie in New York City. Aqueduct Racetrack was one of the main venues where he operated. Arrested on August 19, 1963, Lombardozzi was named with twenty-one Mafia associates. Lombardozzi was a notorious mobster who first came to prominence when he attended the November 14, 1957 Apalachin meeting in upstate New York. My e-book profiles a number of Lombardozzi's cronies, including Michael Scandifia and Arthur Tortorello.
