K-Gr 2-Learning basic scientific concepts and their real-world applications is both fun and accessible in this well-translated series for beginning readers. Each of the six books focuses on a different concept of physics: gravity, heat, light, magnetic energy, movement, and sound. Each highlights fundamental ideas without overwhelming readers who are initially learning words and concepts. Theories are presented in relatable ways that will entice readers (What causes an apple to fall from a tree? What keeps a drink hot inside a mug?). Each book juxtaposes historical images with vivid, contemporary photography that features familiar objects. Diagrams are easily decipherable, and terms and concepts that are bolded throughout the books are defined in a glossary. VERDICT An essential addition to any beginning reader collection to excite young scientists.
