Nurse Pecca Gallegos left El Paso and moved to Walton, Georgia, to keep her seven-year-old son, Maceo, safe from the gang life that his father, Javier Torres, was involved in, but dangerous people want Javier out of jail and they will do whatever it takes to make that happen. Army veteran Captain Colton Crawford, discharged after nine years of service due to a mysterious disorder, crosses paths with Pecca when he becomes her patient at Home for Heroes. Although he faces challenges due to his prosthetic leg, Colton forges a bond with Maceo, who desperately wants to play football. Pecca knows that getting involved with a patient is the wrong thing to do, but when he becomes her self-appointed bodyguard, Colton is even harder to resist.
